Mighty God versus Almighty God?
Mighty God, little god, angel? The Watchtower actually teaches all three! The Watchtower correctly teaches that Isaiah 9:6 is a prophecy of Jesus and this identifies Him as Mighty God. According to the New World Translation, in John 1:1 Jesus is “a god”, a created god, a lesser god, alongside the Father, therefore they have two gods. And the Watchtower teaches Jesus is Michael the Archangel. When asked what is Jesus, aside from saying He is the Son of God, a Jehovah’s Witness cannot answer, is He Mighty God, little god, or angel? Because the Watchtower actually teaches all three.
Jehovah’s Witnesses say: Only Jehovah is Almighty. The Son is only Mighty. The Almighty is greater than the Mighty. Their conclusion: the Father is greater than the Son. By this reasoning, we should never see the Father called Mighty, and we should never see the Son called Almighty. First, make sure you get the Jehovah’s Witness to admit there is only one true God. This will become key later.
So, ask a Jehovah’s Witness if there is only one God. If he goes off on a tangent saying that even Satan is called “the god of this system of things” then remind him the bible says there is only one true God. Is Satan a true god or a false god? Is he disagreeing with the Bible? Eventually, he will agree Jehovah is the only God after reading these scriptures.
The Jehovah’s Witness might grasp at straws saying even Moses was called god. But Moses was just a man who died like any other. They don’t really believe Moses was a god, they are just grasping at straws, don’t let it get you off track. And you can point out the verse says like God.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. Ex.7:1
To get a Jehovah’s Witness to agree there is only one true God, these scriptures are helpful:
- Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.
11 I, even I, am the Lord,
and apart from me, there is no savior. Isa. 43:10, 11 - “See now that I, I am He, And there is no god besides Me” Deut. 32:39
- ‘I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me.” Isaiah 44:6
- “I am Yahweh, and there is no other; Besides Me, there is no God.” Isaiah 45:5
- This is what Jehovah says, your Repurchaser, Who formed you since you were in the womb: “I am Jehovah, who made everything. I stretched out the heavens by myself, And I spread out the earth. Who was with me? Isa 44:24 NWT
Always commend him for agreeing with the bible! After all, we want to build a friendship, build bridges, not walls. Now ask if Jehovah is an Almighty God or a mighty God. They will say He is Almighty.
Next, ask the Jehovah’s Witness about the “a god” in their New World Translation of John 1:1. They will say this is referring to Jesus as “a god” as He is not the almighty God, He is a created being, the first-born of all creation, therefore a powerful one, but not almighty God. (Doesn’t this mean you have two gods?)
Ask them if Jehovah is referred to as Mighty God in the Old Testament. Generally, they will say He is not, Jehovah is only referred to as Almighty God, and Jesus is referred to as Mighty God.
Jer.32:17-18 tells us, “the mighty God whose name is the LORD (Jehovah) of hosts.”
Ps. 50:1 The Mighty One, God, the Lord,
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to where it sets.
Isa. 10:21 A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob
will return to the Mighty God.
So, Jehovah is referred to as Mighty God! And Jesus is referred to as Mighty God in Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born,
to us, a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
So both the Father and the Son are referred to as Mighty God!
Next when we bring them to Revelation 1:7, 8 they will argue this is referring to Jehovah, not Jesus because the New World Translation has inserted the name Jehovah into verse 8! This is easy to overcome as we continue reading further, John turns around in verses 12-13 to see who is speaking, someone like the Son of Man!
“Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen. Rev. 1:7
First stop after verse 7 and ask who this is referring to. Who is coming with the clouds? Who was pierced? The Jehovah’s Witness should readily admit this is referring to Jesus.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Rev. 1:8
Again, who is coming? Jesus or Jehovah? More than likely the Jehovah’s Witness will insist this is Jehovah. Is Jehovah coming? Instead of arguing further, suggest you continue reading to see if this is made clear further along in the chapter.
I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, verses 12, 13.
Ask who is the son of man?
7 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever
When did Jehovah die?
So both the Father and the Son are called Mighty God, and both the Father and the Son are called Almighty. Even if the Jehovah’s Witness cannot accept that it is Jesus who is speaking in chapter 1 of Revelation, suddenly doubt has crept in because the Father is also called Mighty God.
Next, we will tackle how Jehovah’s Witnesses have two Gods, and how to prove this is wrong, using only the Bible and without getting into the Greek.

Ignorance is truly bliss. The greatest trick Satan has pulled, is for you to never call on the one and only TRUE GOD, Jehovah. The word god is a title. There are many god, but one God of Truth, Jehovah. His son is The firstborn of all creations, even he said so. Try understanding John 20:17. Jesus did say, “Let those with eyes see…”

Jehovah’s Witnesses also teach Jesus is an angel, which disagrees with Isaiah 9:6 Jesus is Mighty GOD and Eternal (but Jw don’t believe this either) Read the Bible, Believe the Bible, trust the Bible, not men, Jehovah says Do NOT put your trust in nobles to whom NO salvation belongs Psalm 146:3 and CURSED is the one trusting in men, but Jw trust the gov body, disobeying God’s warnings, why? Jesus is worshiped along with the Father in heaven, but only God can be worshiped, Revelation 5:13,14 even in your very own New World Translation. Jehovah’s Witnesses disagree and say Jesus should NOT be worshiped. Really? So all of heaven is WRONG? Read the bible, believe the bible, put your faith in Gods word, not in an organization that DISAGREES with it. 1 Timothy 2:5 the watchtower says Jesus is the mediator ONLY For the anointed. Hello, I am not a JW, but your assumption that Rev1:8 is spoken by the father, is not correct.
Because, Jesus was never given the title Lord God of the Old Testament and never before in the NT the title almighty, so it should be more clear. It is also more clear when we look at the verses before, which gives the title (god) explicit to the father. Also, these verses spoke about Jesus in the 3rd Person, but verse 8 begins with I AM.
Also in verse 11( I am the alpha…) the father is talking like here is explained:

Jesus goes on to say I am the first I am the last, I WAS DEAD now I am alive forevermore. The one who is coming, hmm, who is coming? ISn’t it the second coming of Christ? That’s who the verse is talking about, context, hermeneutics.

My assumption is that Rev 1:8 is spoken by the Son, not by the Father as you stated. Why did I come to this conclusion? Because John identifies the speaker later in this same chapter, who is the Son of Man? I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. Revelation 1
Its important to read the entire chapter, and to recognize who is speaking. The divine name is never found in the New Testament, which continually is about Jesus. The Bible as a whole is a Jesus book. If you’ve never studied Theophanies, the appearances of Jesus (who is identifed as Yahweh or Jehovah in the Old Testament, see Genesis 18) I’d highly recommend it, its a fascinating study. The deity of Jesus is throughout the bible, both in the old testament and the new.

Yeah, not the old divine name, Yahwe, even not other terms like Zebaoth/Lord of Hosts (but “Lord of Lords” for interest) but pantokrátōr – the Almighty. For the first time in New Testament, maybe because it is the time of fulfillment of gods reign in full power, but maybe because the almighty father is now in the center of worshipping and acting.
When Jesus is the lamb, then it is a distinction between the almighty and the lamb in Revelation 21,22.
And read my link: The two different voices (“like trumpets”, “like water”) shows, that not Jesus spoke the words about “alpha and omega” in Rev 1.11, because this voice was “as of a trumpet” and the son of men had a “voice as the sound of MANY WATERS.”
The complex about the appearing of god vs. no can see him, for which you posted the link, I think, is not so important for me in this context, because the voice thing is really clear in my eyes.
By the way, I haven’t read these complete, but when Jesus is the angel of god in OT, who is the angel of god in Rev 1:1

Bottom line is JW don’t believe that two or three can be ONE.
And if we look at this from a human perspective I would agree too. However, if we look at this from a spiritual standpoint it would be easier to understand it. Just look at the symbol that was used to represent the holy ghost in pentecost : FIRE.
You can create multiple flames from a single one, and reunite all flames and make a single one again. Is the closest physical example that I can provide. But the bible gives us a better example yet: look for the story of the Gerasene demoniac. Legion means many demons in a single man, yet all pigs were affected.
So, if we accept that demons can cohabit in the form of a single being, why can’t the Almighty do so too?
